STATWORX 2.0 – Opening of the New Headquarters in Frankfurt

Something big is coming
... with this teaser, the STATWORX team has now been kept under high tension for several months until the doors of the new STATWORX office at its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main were finally opened on July 3, 2020. After a long period of home office due to Corona, the team was able to exchange ideas personally and take in the new premises during a cozy barbecue. But what was the journey to the new office? One thing is certain: it was a piece of work.
“Help, we need more space” That was the motto for STATWORX when the decision was made back in 2018 to look for new office space. Our previous location in Frankfurt's Westend has been the official headquarters since the end of 2016. As part of the expansion of the business, 10 more desks followed in WeWork and design offices in downtown Frankfurt. It was clear that this could not remain a permanent solution.
New location in Frankfurt's Ostend
Frankfurt is an attractive business location and offers a wide range of available office space — but unfortunately often with a focus on heavily timbered interior design. For STATWORX, it should look loft-like, with spacious areas for informal and open work, in which the exchange of knowledge and creativity should be promoted. After almost two years of searching, we decided on a total of 1,400 square meters in Hanauer Landstraße 150, not far from the European Central Bank. Since the ECB moved in, the area around Ostbahnhof has stood for departure, innovation and progress. A spirit that we can identify with very well.

Confis, kitchen & bar
On the approximately 500 square meter ground floor, you will find the reception and conference areas of the area. A total of 4 conference rooms, e.g. for our open data science courses, our boot camp series and for internal continuing education events, can accommodate a total of up to 100 people. This is preceded by the spacious lobby, which was designed, among other things, for our quarterly townhall meetings; and due to STATBAR, will probably also be the venue for many of the team's afterwork events in the future. Cheers! We are particularly proud of our cooperation with Poliform Berlin planned (event) kitchen. The kitchen, which rests on a concrete floor, is located in a room of almost 70 square meters and will form the communicative heart on the ground floor in the future.

The core: The open space area
The standard floor on the first floor of our area covers around 900 square meters. A hot desking concept prevails here, which in particular takes into account the findings of everyday working life in recent times. Does a modern office always have to provide a complete workplace for every team member? Since Corona at the latest, we find no. Working in 2020 is becoming more and more than a slightly delineated combination of work, movement, presence, home office and spontaneous meetings. Strict furnishing of rooms and isolating people in these rooms for the purpose of working were explained negative examples of a modern working environment. Our open space area of the office is aimed at communication. Interaction, work and exchange should flow smoothly into one another. Since this is of course not suitable for every situation during the working day, there are an additional 5 group offices for a total of 20 team members as well as management and management offices. There are always areas in the area for informal work, for example in armchairs, on sofas or in a think tank or idea room, where you can design and brainstorm while standing. In this room, for example, the entire wall can be written on because it was finished in a specially designed color. The planning of the coding room, in which our employees can program in a particularly quiet environment in a dark “hacking” atmosphere, was particularly interesting. The telephone rooms are designed to be private and secluded, offering a place for longer conference calls that should not take place at a desk.
The team has given the name StatBib to our library area, where the company's extensive collection of literature finally finds its proper place. Round tables made of smoked oak with dark green pendant lamps above radiate the charm and security of a library from the past.

The color concept
Speaking of dark green: When planning the interior of the new STATWORX office, white walls were deliberately avoided. As a result, there is not a single white wall or ceiling in the entire unit. As the main person responsible for the “New Office” project, it was a personal concern for our CFO Julius that the lines between working and feeling good in the new office become blurred. This was accompanied by the rejection of white as a typical, boring office color. Colours are essential for the effect of the spaces in which we move. The color concept is based on earthy colors with green undertones, which convey a feeling of comfort, prudence, but also motivation and energy. When choosing the furniture, mainly natural materials were used: lots of real wood, lots of fabric, lots of black — paired with design classics from different periods and countries.
A part of the corporate culture
All of these creative decisions reflect an important part of our corporate culture. This follows the guideline of collegial cooperation and our promise of work at the highest level. An aesthetically thought-out and high-quality working environment as well as the competence of our employees contribute to this.
Creating a nice place for the team to work and meet was my personal goal and a constant motivator throughout the entire duration of the project.
Are you curious about our new office? From now on, we are pleased to welcome many new faces, customers, friends and well-known partners to our new headquarters at Hanauer Landstr. 150 in Frankfurt. Welcome to STATWORX!
