Development of an Enterprise-Wide AI Roadmap for an International Industrial Company

Challenge:

Our client, an internationally operating industrial company, aimed to develop a future-oriented AI roadmap across the entire organization. The objective was to systematically identify and prioritize relevant AI use cases and embed them within a strategic framework for scaling AI enterprise-wide - with the ambition of positioning the company as a long-term industry leader.

Approach:

We took responsibility for the preparation, facilitation, and follow-up of a company-wide ideation process for (Gen)AI. In close collaboration with the CFO and CIO, we conducted seven use case workshops across all relevant business units. The resulting use cases were systematically assessed and translated into a roadmap. In addition, we developed recommendations for the strategic conditions required to scale AI across the organization.

Outcome:

The project created the foundation for advancing AI across the company in a structured way and for translating prioritized use cases into implementation. Specifically, the project delivered the following results:

• Creation of an AI backlog with more than 250 high-level ideas
• Development of around 25 more detailed ideas
• Proposal of five use cases focused on efficiency gains
• Identification of two use cases as strategic investments
• Recommendations on strategic enablers across data, infrastructure, operating model, and data culture
